December has been a crazy-busy month, and it has been so much fun! Here’s a recap of what’s been going on. (If you want to see pictures, check out my facebook).
On December 8th, I went to Chicago with Grandma Judy and Grandpa Tom. We ate lunch at Cheesecake Factory, and it was delicious—as usual! Grandma and I shared Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Layer Cake Cheesecake. I had wanted to see Wicked for months, so I was super excited about going. The show was awesome—even better than I was expecting. All of the music was incredible, and now it’s on my ipod J
On December 18th, my family celebrated Christmas. It was our usual low-key day; we recited the Christmas story, opened presents, and ate lunch. Our traditional Christmas lunch is Pepperoni Pizza from Mad Jack’s, Doritos, and IBC root beer to drink. We played some games, and had lots of family time. It was an awesome, relaxing day spent with the people I love the most.
I am not an ice-skater. You can ask Katelyn, Krystle, Kaydie, or Alicia. The five of us went to the ice skating rink in Bloomer. Needless to say, none of us are going to be in the Olympics, but we did manage to have a lot of fun. We ate a yummy supper at the Swangim’s; it was great to catch up with friends who I don’t see often anymore.
In my quest for a hobby, I’ve become a knitter. (Feel free to laugh). On the up side, it is a very inexpensive hobby, and not complicated. I’m ¾ done with my first washrag, but it’s far from lovely. Practice makes perfect, right?!
From the 24th-26th, we have 4 Christmas’ with various relatives. It’s a busy (and often extremely noisy) few days, but I love spending time with family members I only see a few times every year. Mass quantities of delicious food are a must ;)
Grandma Neva had an awesome Christmas. She did a lot better with all the noise and chaos this year. (Last year, she had a tough time with all the extra people and noise and lack of normalcy) Granted, she does not remember Christmas 2010 anymore, but she really did enjoy it at the time. She liked eating all day long, too J
On Monday, the 27th, Mom, Emma, and I rode the train to Chicago. We ate lunch at Cheesecake Factory, which was thoroughly delicious, but we had an unusual experience. As we sat munching on our appetizer, Emma bites on this “crunchy thing”. This “crunchy thing” was a small piece of metal, almost 1 inch long, dark in color, and cylindrical in shape. We had the privilege of meeting the manager, got our appetizer for free, and received practically undivided attention from our waiter! I thought it would have been cool if Emma broke a tooth; that would have made the story more interesting! J As usual, we spent the rest of the day shopping on State Street and Michigan Avenue, and got caramel crisp from Garrett’s popcorn before heading back to the station. Once we got back into town, we met up with everyone at Tobin’s Pizza. Grandma Neva spent the day with Thomas and Dad. They went to the basketball tournament, had lunch at Culver’s, and ate lots of snacks. I’m so incredibly thankful that they watched her while we had a super fun day in Chicago.
Last night, Thomas and I met up with Katelyn and Garrett for Happy Hour at Steak and Shake—from 2-4 am! We got our half-priced milkshakes; it was fun, and quite random.
On certain days, Grandma Neva is more confused than others. This afternoon, Mom realized that Neva’s hair looked wet/sticky. Since Neva could not find her hairspray, she decided to use cooking spray instead! Word to the wise—if you run out of hairspray, do NOT use cooking spray. It does not have the same affect.
My Christmas break has been splendid…And if you have taken the time to read this post, it’s likely that you need a hobby! ;)
