I'm new at this whole blogging thing, but I decided to give it a shot. Stick around and see what happens!
December 21st is Grandma Neva's birthday; she is now 67. (For the record, she feels like she's in her forties, just ask her!) Neva was very aware that her birthday was coming this year, and reminded us frequently. She had a fabulous day today, eating both lunch and supper out, which is one of her favorite things to do. I called her, sang happy birthday, and she giggled like she does. It was pretty cute.
Mom, Emma, and I just finished making peanut brittle. My fingers are burnt; my thumbs have blisters. Stretching peanut brittle hurts. We only made 2 batches this year, which is about 10 pounds. Grandma Neva remembers making peanut brittle, and is aware that she taught Mom how to make it. Making peanut brittle was a Thanksgiving tradition for as long as I can remember, but we had not made any for about 4 years. We use to spend an entire day making peanut brittle and made 50-60 pounds.
It was somehow fitting that we made peanut brittle on Grandma Neva's birthday because it was something she enjoyed doing with us for many years.
